On Wednesday, November 12, the first Traxx 3 MS electric locomotive manufactured by Alstom arrived to Slovenia from Velim, Czech Republic, for testing. In the SŽ-VIT workshop in Moste, Ljubljana, experts from Alstom, SŽ-VIT and SŽ-Tovorni promet conducted the first tests in Slovenia for obtaining a temporary operating permit. This is an important milestone in the project to modernize our rolling stock.

On Thursday, November 21, we prepared an internal tour of the locomotive for colleagues who are participating in the new locomotives project. Quite a few employees of the Slovenske železnice group gathered at the Ljubljana railway station, including all three members of the SŽ-Tovorni promet management board.

Activities will continue at an unabated pace, as the locomotive will return to the test site in Velim, where new tests will be performed. Based on the temporary operating permit, test runs on the public railway infrastructure network are planned to take place in the second half of December. They will last approximately a week.

After the new year, we plan to test the locomotive in Croatia and Serbia, and in March, the locomotive will return to Slovenia for the final test runs. The test results will be the basis for submitting the application for a permanent operating permit.

Alstom will deliver the first locomotive for regular operation in the second half of March 2027, and the last in October 2028. The successfully completed first tests confirmed the high level of professionalism and dedication of all teams involved.
